The main lines to the Island of Hvar run via Stari Grad:
Rijeka-Zadar-Split-Stari Grad-Korčula-Dubrovnik-Bari (daily during summer), international fast-boat line Pescara-Stari Grad-Split (daily) and the international line Ancona-Stari Grad-Split-Korčula (twice a week).

By plane
Airport Split www.split-airport.hr
is the closest one to the island of Hvar. There is a bus service linking the airport with the harbour of Split. Buses run every 20 minutes. Travelling time aprox. 1h. However, it is faster and much more comfortable to take a taxi (at a price of 30 - 35 €uro).

By car
There is two ports for car-ferries on the island of Hvar: Stari Grad and Sućuraj. From Stari Grad, ferries head to Split. The port is relatively close to the town of Hvar (20 km). It is a 20 minutes drive along the south side of the island, which is a beautiful scenic route.
From Sućuraj, ferries head to Drvenik. This port is located on the other side of the island and relatively far away from the town of Hvar. However, you should head into this direction, if you plan to go to Dubrovnik, Mostar or Sarajevo.
Hvar’s public car-park is located near the bus terminal. For hotel guests, parking facilities are usually provided for. The gas station for cars and boats is situated in Kri˛na Luka.

By bus
The closest bus terminal is the one in Split, located at the harbour, right next to the railway station. There are buses in all directions, including international lines.
Bus terminal Split
There is a bus service on the island of Hvar connecting the town of Hvar with Stari Grad and Jelsa. Buses run several times a day. Tickets are available in the bus.
By train
All larger cities are part of the Croatian railway system, except Dubrobnik. There are direct trains running to Slovenia, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Serbia and Montenegro. From there, you may travel on to any other European destinations.
Railway station Split is the closest one from Hvar. It is located in the very center of the city, right next to the city harbour and the bus terminal.
